Acura MDX
Model Years Produced: 2022 to Current
Summary
Newly designed for 2022, the YE1 MDX is average in its base form but stellar in Type S configuration. A “jack of all trades, master of none,” the standard model is outclassed by the Genesis GV80 in styling and the Germans have it beat in driving dynamics. Even though it’s reliable, the Lexus GX 460 is more so. The Type S version, however, overcomes the standard model’s flaws in a big way to become one of the best vehicles in the segment.
While Acura’s “Type S” designation typically conjures images of sports cars, its implementation in the MDX serves to make it both more fun to drive and more comfortable. The Type S adds a turbocharged engine which provides much more power and torque than the ancient naturally-aspirated V6 in the standard car, and it also features air suspension that is capable of being either extremely plush or rock hard depending on the selected drive mode. It is the version of the MDX to get.
