Genesis GV80

Genesis GV80

Model Years Produced: 2021 to Current

Summary

Genesis’ first attempt at an SUV was a home run right away in terms of execution. Beautiful inside and out with a powerful set of engines and great technology, the GV80 was more than able to take on its luxury competitors – even if it couldn’t necessarily charge as much as them.

The GV80’s only real flaw is that it must be sold and serviced at Hyundai dealerships. Genesis only has one standalone dealership in the country; the rest are integrated into existing Hyundai dealerships. Unfortunately for prospective Genesis buyers, Hyundai sales people are rather more equipped for selling a $15,000 Accent to someone with poor credit than a $60,000 luxury car to someone who’s cross-shopping with the latest BMW or Lexus, and it’s a problem that Hyundai/Genesis are desperately trying to solve (though it will take time).

Thankfully, Genesis does offer a service called “Service Valet” for 3 years with the purchase of any Genesis vehicle, in which they will pick up your vehicle “wherever and whenever you choose” when it’s time for service and drop it back off when it’s done, so theoretically you should never need to step foot in a Hyundai dealer after purchase.
