Problems

  • Engine flooding can happen if the engine shuts down before it is fully warmed up. In the long-term, this can damage the catalytic converters. Flooding is less prevalent on the S2’s than the S1’s thanks to the upgraded ignition system, though is still possible.
  • Automatic transmission vehicles have a lower redline than those with manuals (7500 rpm vs 9000 rpm), which means they produce less power. They also are more likely to have issues with apex seals, as the engine cannot rev high enough to blow out carbon deposits.
