Audi TT (8S)
Model Years Produced: 2016 to 2023
Summary
Audi’s lone sports car, the TT is often forgotten when surrounded by the rest of Audi’s spectacular lineup of AWD sport sedans, wagons, and SUVs – not to mention the R8 supercar. It’s quite a shame, because the third-generation “8S” TT is a wonderful car. Available in both coupe and convertible forms (though sadly, the latter isn’t an option for the S and RS models in the US), the TT shares many parts with the A3 compact car, but it has a much more charming interior, and the shorter wheelbase lends itself to sharper handling.
Primary Criticisms
Major
- Convertible is not available in the US on TT S and TT RS models
Minor
- Front-biased Haldex AWD understeers if you push too hard
- TT RS has an overly stiff ride
- TT RS feels more clinical to drive than rivals like the GR Supra and 718

RS
The RS version of the TT gets Volkswagen’s excellent turbocharged five-cylinder engine. It produces nearly 400 hp and makes a great noise that sounds unlike any other engine on the road. Unfortunately, the RS was removed from the TT lineup after model year 2022, but it can still be found used or certified pre-owned.
